MTC OPTICS : COMPANY PROFILE

Thanks for visiting us, we're MTC Optics, owned and ran by Sammie and Gary Cooper. MTC was born in September 2005 during the FT world championships at Weston Park. We had been testing Soviet Bazaar NV products for some time but the latest product, the Connect01, was the first in which we were closely involved. We spent most of the weekend demonstrating this groundbreaking scope, and enjoyed the interaction with the public. So much so we agreed to become South West distributors for Soviet Bazaar. Sadly, like many worthy plans this never came to fruition as Soviet Bazaar went into liquidation. Our sympathies lie with all the SB team, nobody worked harder or deserved success more. The SB ethos and dream was too good to let die so we decided to pick up the baton and go into business for ourselves on a less ambitious scale. We have a low overhead business which keeps prices low and our financial footing sound, good for us and good for the customer. We are country sports people, we shoot, ferret, ride and fish, so we know what works and what doesn't. Equally we understand how hard you work for your money, so we aim to provide the best value and best customer service. That's why we can be contacted until 9pm each evening and at weekends. In England we have many outstanding shooting suppliers, the value that we add is that we're experienced business people who are passionate about our sport and the people in it. Many of you will know us from shooting competitions, from the internet, or from Airgun world magazine. If you don't know us, there's a bit about us below. We hope that you will find us the most approachable of companies. Our products are reasonably priced but our help and advice is free so if you need anything don't hesitate to call . We hope you find our product range of optics and accessories appropriate, if you think we're missing something please tell us!.

SAMMIE

I've been plinking for more years than I care to remember. I have 2 boys with whom I used to spend hours with in the garden shooting their old springers. In fact I would stay out when they went in. I started shooting seriously when I got to know Gary, he taught me the technical aspects and I've taught him about ferrets, which I've had for many years.. I started shooting a PCP (AA400) about 3 years ago and became hooked on UKAHFT. (If you want to know more check our links page). Since then I've moved on to a Daystate MK3, the 400 is now FAC'd, and I've acquired a Rimfire, HMR and .22 Hornet c/f.  I was ladies champion 2004 and runner up in 2005, and also won the Polish Open in Morsko in April 2004. When I started shooting seriously I never saw myself hunting until a mob of magpies decimated the songbirds nesting in my garden, when I  had only a family of Wagtails left I intervened. Then my horse stepped into a rabbit hole and damaged a tendon so I evicted the rabbits. Permanently.  My current favourite quarry are rats. Rats with NV is about as good as it gets. I have gained so much from shooting in terms of fun and friendship over the years that I look upon MTC Optics not only as a business, but as a chance to help fellow shooters.

GARY

One of my earliest memories was my Dad taking me poaching in my pushchair. Mum worked evenings so I guess he found it more fun than babysitting. Times have changed, those days have gone but I've carried on shooting for most of the the intervening 44 years. As well as hunting I was lucky enough to win the UKAHFT championship 2004 and was runner up last year, as well as equal 1st in the Polish Open. I'm now passionate about my ferrets, and hope to get a long dog in the next couple of years. Over the past few years I've met many great people in the sport who have helped me in every way. I enjoy hunting and target shooting , each has it's own rewards, although currently I must admit to finding eradicating foxes top of my list . I hope our little business can help us to help a few others.
