CONNECT 01 PRISMATIC RIFLESCOPE

The Connect 01 derives it's name from its ability to connect the shooter to his rifle. Unlike a normal riflescope there is no eye relief to induce parallax error and slow target acquisition, there is a unique feeling of "one-ness" with the scope. The feeling of "one-ness" is so pronounced that every time I use this scope I feel the urge to hug a tree. I did a review for Airgun World on this scope and it was interesting to write, normally a scope is like any other scope, just variations on a theme with the accent on the slight competitive advantage such as price, good optics etc. The Connect is different, the slight advantages are massive advantages, it does not suffer the same optical constraints as a conventional lens based scope, light transmission is carried out by prisms. Please note that the Connect 01 is not available in the shops.

Connect 01 Advantages

Field of View | When looking through a Connect 01 for the first time the impression is of a tiny reticule, your mind is locked in the paradigm that is expecting a certain field of view. As you become accustomed to it you realise that your reticule is normal MP8, half mil dot spaced, and that the field of view is - literally - incredible. On x10 mag the field of view is similar to a conventional scope at x3 to x4. | ||||||||||
| Depth of Field | I have found the depth of field on x10 magnification to be roughly similar to x8 on a conventional scope, a considerable increase but not a precise measure as optical properties of conventional scopes differ slightly due to glass quality | |||||||||||
| Target Acquisition | Your eye being connected to the eyepiece give a feeling of being part of the rifle, when moving you don't lose the fractions of a second re-adjusting eye relief. | |||||||||||
| Light Gathering | Much brighter than a conventional scope. One description that keeps cropping up is "stunning". The superior light performance is enhanced by the eyecup preventing external glare on your eye. | |||||||||||
| Balance | Sitting so far back the weight of the scope is right in your shoulder making, balancing the scope and your rifle very nicely | |||||||||||

Connect 01 Disadvantages

| Fixed x10 Mag | Most of the disadvantages in shooting x10 mag are offset by the superior optical qualities of the Connect, it has the light gathering and field of view of a low mag conventional scope but nonetheless some people will not like shooting x10. | |||||||||||
| Zero eye relief | Most people enjoy this, however some cannot get on with it. More importantly this scope cannot be used on a recoiling rifle. | |||||||||||
| Height of mount |
The mount is an integral part of the sight and set at
2.25". This is superb for long range air rifle shooting but some
people find the extra 1/2" uncomfortable

Why are we telling you this? You may be a little surprised at a sales site giving you negatives on a product, but we would much prefer you to be happy with your purchase. The Connect01 is radically different to conventional scopes and as such we are finding that people love or hate it. We believe that for squirrel or rat shooting with an air rifle, or as a lamping scope, the Connect01 is difficult to beat. We certainly think it's worth considering. However, as this scope is not available in the shops we offer a try before you buy service, contact us for details. |
